Garbage, beautifulgarbage

Alternative artists have been displaying a lot of techno influences lately. Garbage were pioneers of the tasteful grunge and techno blend in their 1995 single 'Vow', so surely their new album takes said influences to another level? Sadly, no. The tunes are sometimes good (though never a match for their last album, Version 2.0), the playing and production are still polished, but the only new influence here is a truly disturbing one: the top 40. Specifically, Britney Spears. By the sounds of beautiful..., Garbage have shed their alternative garb and wrapped themselves in an albino snake. Oops.
